A very rare imitation of a denarius of Augustus

MIDDLE DANUBE. Uncertain tribe. Time of Augustus or slightly later, 27 BC-early 1st century AD. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.39 g, 9 h). Bare head of Augustus to right. Rev. Stylized figure standing front, head to right, holding serpent (?) in right hand and resting left arm on column; to left, aquila and hook-shaped symbols; to right, imitative legend. Cf. Crawford 442/1a (for possible reverse prototype). Very rare. Minor weakness on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
